Smear
Imperfect reflections and transparency...
This shader is used to generate the diffuse lighting
interaction that you get from imperfect surfaces.
- Reflections
Standard reflections are perfect, crisp and fully defined. The only option is the
intensity of the reflection. Smear reflections are more realistic, with distant
reflections being less distinct that those that are closer.
- Transparency
Standard transparency is perfect, the only option is the intensity of the transparency.
Smear transparency can be modified so that close objects are transmitted through the
material with more clarity than distant objects.
OPTIONS:
- Smear Transparency
Toggle to turn on/off smeared transparency.
- Smear Reflection
Toggle to turn on/off smeared reflections.
- Smear level
How intense the smear is. With a smear level of zero, there is no
smear effect- reflections and transparencies will be perfect. With a high
smear level objects will become blurry faster as you move away from the surface.
- Samples
The number of oversamples to use to calculate the surface colour. Because
of the random sampling nature of the algorithm used, higher smear levels
will require a higher sample level. Otherwise, the resulting image will become grainy.
Smear takes its reflection and transparency values from the standard material window.
